Pastor

Mayra Macedo-Nolan

Executive Director

Mayra grew up in East Los Angeles and moved to Pasadena over two decades ago. Most recently she served on the pastoral staff of Lake Avenue Church, a congregation that has been at the same location in Pasadena for over 120 years. She has spent the past 19 years leading in the local community and casting vision for Kindom-neighbor-loving. Her love for the local and global church fuels her community development work as well as her speaking and teaching focus on issues related to leadership, faith, justice, and the Church. Mayra spends lots of time learning from and mentoring younger leaders in the community and is a champion for amplifying the voices and leadership of younger generations. She serves on various local and national committees and boards, including The Voices School for Liberation and Transformation, and is Chair of the Board of Directors of the Christian Community Development Association (CCDA). She is married to Chris and they have raised their four children in Pasadena.

Pastor Kerwin Manning

Board Chair

Senior Pastor and Head Coach Kerwin L. Manning is known as a man dedicated to whole-hearted worship and spirit-driven leadership. Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, he received Christ at age 16 and accepted his call to ministry a few years later. After graduating from Anderson University with a Bachelors degree in Religious Studies, Pastor Kerwin returned to Toledo to begin full-time ministry at his home church, First Church of God. 

Pastor Kerwin served for more than 7 years in various leadership roles, such as: Elder, Senior Associate Pastor, Youth Pastor, Minister of Music, Covering Pastor of Small Groups, Bible Study Teacher, Evangelism Leader and Follow-Up Leader. In addition, Pastor Kerwin served more than 3 years as Youth Pastor of Celebration Church (formerly Long Reach Church of God) in Columbia, Maryland. Through these various pastoral and oversight roles, he gained a wealth of experience and knowledge of spiritual leadership in the church.

Pastor Kerwin has been a sought after youth and young adult minister, speaking to thousands across this country. He has served a four-year term as President of the National Inspirational Youth Convention (6,000 delegates) and he continues to minister at college campuses throughout the Southern California region. His personable and humorous style, along with his modern day examples and creative illustrations, make his oral presentation powerful and effective to hearers of all cultures and generations.

Pastor Jean Burch

Founding President and Board Member

Pastor Jean Burch is the senior pastor of Community Bible Church of Greater Pasadena, located on the border of Pasadena and Altadena, California where she has served for 20 years. She is simply and affectionately known as “Pastor Jean.”  

In addition to serving as senior pastor she is also the President of the Community Bible Community Development Corporation.  The CBCDC provides 446 units of affordable housing and social services to over 1000 residents in Pasadena.  Pastor Jean is a founding member, past president and current board member of the Clergy Community Coalition.  She also currently serves on the Fuller Theological Seminary Board of Trustees.

She is the recipient of a numerous awards including the 2020 California 41st Assembly District Women of the Year Award. Pastor Jean earned an M.A. in Global Leadership from Fuller Seminary and a B.S. from Biola University in Organizational Leadership. She is a proud mother and grandmother and is blessed to have her family in ministry with her at CBC.

Pastor John Lo

Board Vice Chair

Pastor John Lo has been pastoring since 1990. In 2003, He and his wife Evelyn planted Epicentre Pasadena with the desire to plant a church that would plant churches locally and globally. Since that time Epicentre has planted 4 churches in the LA region and currently has church planters in Africa, Asia, Southeast Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. He has an MDiv and DMin from Fuller Seminary and serves on Fuller’s Church Planting Board. John has been a CCC board member since 2017 and has a deep desire to the help the church of Pasadena minister more deeply to  the city and people of Pasadena.

Pastor Eric Johnson

Board Secretary

Eric Johnson is the Director of Partnerships & Collaborations for the nonprofit, Stars, and the Care & Justice Pastor at New Abbey Church in Pasadena, CA. He has served urban youth and families dealing with trauma for over 40 years as a pastor/director/educator/advocate by building support and advocacy within the Pasadena Unified School District community around systemic issues impacting vulnerable students and families by leveraging relationships within the faith, non-profit and business communities.

Eric is married to Ana Maria and has one daughter, Daniella, completing her Masters degree in Urban Education at USC. Eric loves all things pop culture, cooking, fitness and screenwriting.

Pastor David Oh

Board Treasurer

David and his wife Jenney have a passion to see the Father's heart released on earth as it is in heaven. They have been called to raise a family of royal priests who love God and love people well. David was born and raised in Michigan but has been living in California since 2001. He and his wife served at Harvest Rock Church for seven years before being launched to plant a house church in 2017. They also help oversee a ministry school in Pasadena. They are proud parents to three beautiful children- Isaac, Abigail, and Anna.

Pastor Marcos Canales

Board Member

Marcos Canales, originally from Costa Rica, has been pastoring amongst the Latina community of the greater Los Angeles area for more than a decade. During this time, he has also worked with non-profit community organizations in the areas of youth development, mentoring, and immigration advocacy. Currently, Marcos is pastor of La Fuente Ministries- a bilingual, intercultural, and intergenerational congregation of Pasadena First Church of the Nazarene. He is married to Andrea, who is a therapist, and they are raising Elias, their son, in the city of Pasadena, California. He has also been a leading strategist for the Center for the Study of Hispanic Church and Community (Centro Latino) at Fuller Theological Seminary and an adjunct professor at various theological institutions. He received his Master’s of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary and he loves to integrate Christian discipleship, social justice and Latina theology.
